Adding Oil To Natural Peanut Butter
Have you ever read the ingredients label of the peanut butter in your pantry? I'll bet it is full of extra junk you didn't count on! The benefit of buying peanut butter, whose only ingredient is peanuts, is that you're not feeding your kids excess sugar and preservatives. The only difficulty is that the oil separates out. To overcome this, either buy a no-stir version which adds a small amount of vegetable oil to the peanut butter, or add it yourself to the needs to be stirred kind. Move the peanut butter to a clean jar larger than the original peanut butter jar. Add 1 1/2 tsp vegetable oil per 16 oz of peanut butter to the jar. Using a hand blender, mix the peanut butter well. Cap the new jar, or put the peanut butter back in the original jar. I've added the oil directly to the peanut butter in its original jar and mixed it before, but it never blends as well as putting it in a larger jar.
