Churros are G's all time favorite treat at Disneyland! They're super easy to make. They're best eaten the same day, which isn't a problem at our house! If you don't have a decorator's icing bag, or cookie press, you can use a large, heavy freezer ziptop bag with the corner cut off.
Churros
Vegetable oil for frying
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup flour
3 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Heat the vegetable oil to about 360 degrees F. NOTE: You can check by either dropping a small piece of dough in the hot oil and seeing if it begins to fry, or by dipping the end of a wooden spoon in and seeing if that bubbles. Your oil should be about 1 1/2 inches deep in a large cast-iron skillet or other large fryer.
Heat water, butter, and salt to a rolling boil in a 3 quart saucepan. Stir in flour. Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball...about 1 minute. Remove from heat. Beat in eggs all at once. Continue beating until smooth.
Spoon mixture into a decorator's tube with a large star tip. Squeeze 4 inch strips of dough into hot oil. Fry 3 or 4 strips at a time until golden brown, turning once, about 2 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Roll churros in mixture.
Makes about 2 dozen.
