I've been using this cream for my hands and face for years now. I love it. It will be greasy at first, but will soak in and be silky smooth after a few minutes. And it doesn't have any cancer causing gunk in it. You'll have to experiment with the amount of beeswax you like. More makes a harder cream, less makes on that's softer. The coconut oil is semi-solid at normal room temperature.
Hand And Face Cream
1 cups olive oil
1/2 cup coconut oil
6 Tbsp beeswax
10 drops grapefruit seed extract
15 drops essential oils (optional)
1 vitamin E capsules (optional)
Combine the oils in a 2 quart stainless steel sauce pan and stir over medium heat until the oils are melted. Add the beeswax to the pan and stir until melted then test the mix by dropping 5 or 6 drops onto a sheet of waxed paper. Let cool and test the hardness. It it is too hard, add a bit more olive oil. If its too soft or greasy, add a little more beeswax. When the cream has the exact thickness you want, remove the pan from the burner and allow to cool until the cream begins to harden on the sides of the pan. Then stir in the grapefruit extract and vitamin E capsule goo to enhance the healing properties of the hand cream. Add the essential oils now if desired. Stir well and transfer to containers.
Makes about 12 oz.
is this used as a moisturizer? or a face soap? If moisturizer, what do you use for cleansing the face?
ReplyDeleteHi Becky,
ReplyDeleteThis is a moisturizer. I use a tiny drop of peppermint castile soap, water, and coarsely ground organic rolled oats to make a facial scrub. (put the dry oats in the blender to grind and store in a sealed jar in the bathroom.) It works wonders, and is gentle. I then use witch hazel for a toner and finish with this face cream.
