I don't remember where this recipe came from. You can find lip balm tubes and pots online. This is good for a gift...or make ahead to have on hand. You could omit the vanilla and add a few drops of lavender, peppermint, lemon balm, etc. essential oils. Start with 10 drops and work your way up to the right potency.
1/4 cup shredded beeswax
7 Tbsp coconut oil
1 3/4 Tbsp honey
1 3/4 Tbsp pure vanilla extract (optional)
Heat the wax in a saucepan over low heat to 150 degrees. In a separate saucepan, heat the oil to the same temperature. When both are heated to the proper temperature, add the coconut oil to the beeswax. Remove the pan from the heat and stir steadily until well blended. Then add the honey and the optional vanilla extract and continue to stir until well blended. Pour into tubes or tubs. Allow to cool overnight. Cap the containers and store at room temperature out of direct sunlight.
This recipe makes enough to fill 25 0.15oz lip balm tubes, or 16 1/3oz pots.
