Bath salts are easy to make, make great gifts, and make your skin soft. If I'm giving them for a gift, I'll get a pretty jar and make a nice label. At home, I keep them in a large pantry jar next to the tub with a scoop nearby. Use about 1 cup for a long soak. The oils are soothing to smell and therapeutic to your skin. ONLY use pure essential oils from the health food store...not fragrance oils from the craft section. I like lavender, ylang ylang, and rosemary. You should take a little time to smell them for yourself. All essential oils have therapeutic properties and learning what they do is part of the fun.
Basic Bath Salts:
Epsom salts
essential oils
Place 10-30 drops of oil in the epsom salts. Start with a few drops and stir well, than add a little more. Place in a sealed jar and let sit for a week before using.
The following recipe of bath salts was given to me as a baby shower gift. I love the smell! Of course, you could get the same smell using just the simple recipe above with these oils.
Bath Salts 2:
1 cup baking soda
2 cups epsom salts
3 cups sea salt
30-40 drops essential oils: lemon, mandarin, bergamot, geranium, & rose
Combine all the dry ingredients. Add the oils and stir well. Store in a sealed jar and let sit a week before using.
